Funeral services for Leonard J. Brand, 72, of Butler, will be held on Friday at 2 pm at Howard United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Butler Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Brand passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Taylor County Health Care. He was a member of Howard United Methodist Church. He had served with the Butler Fire Department, the Butler Police Department and was a former EMT. He was retired from Taylor County Recycling. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Brand and his parents, William J. and Louise Kelley Brand.

Survivors include two sons, Sandy (Terri) Brand and Reed (Lisa) Brand of Butler; one daughter, Ellen (Bill) Haddock of Butler; three brothers, Frazier Brand of Summerville, David (Akane) Brand of Butler and John (Linda) Brand of Macon; two sisters, Bertha Lou Locke of Howard and Betty Ann (Pete) Stead of Tampa, FL; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
