Having served family, church and community ninety-nine and 3/4 years, Ruby Morris Wilson has joined her husband of sixty-nine years, Robert Franklin Wilson, at the hand of their Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ. Mrs. Wilson passed peacefully at her home in the comfort of her family and dearest friends November 18, 2019. Formerly of Dooly County and a student of Freeman Business College, Ruby Morris married Robert Wilson on August 9, 1941 to begin their lives together in Upson County. Soon, Robert was called by the United States Army to serve in Northern Africa and Italy during World War II, and, Ruby followed him to every stateside military posting until he shipped out. To say she lived a great adventure, particularly for the time, is an understatement. After the war, Robert and Ruby built their home and farm in Taylor County where they raised sons Jerry and Larry, and, daughter, Linda. Hard work, family and Horeb Baptist Church were their mainstays. A different adventure ensued; life in the ever changing world we are blessed to live in. Ruby Wilson was indeed of the Greatest Generation. Imagine the changes she witnessed since 1920. Robert went on to be with the Lord and to prepare a place for Ruby July 13, 2010. Together evermore, Robert and Ruby are examples of kind, decent souls serving family, Christ and community. No matter how we knew her; Mama, Ruby, Mrs. Wilson, Grandmama, Miss Ruby, Aunt Ruby, whatever; we knew we were loved. And she knew she was loved.
Survivors include son Jerry and wife Cheryl Wilson; son Larry and wife Marie Wilson; daughter Linda and husband Mark Kight; granddaughter Tara and husband Mitchell Griffin; grandson Tory and wife Alisha Wilson; granddaughter Dana Wilson; and grandson Luke Wilson.
The family wishes to express love and appreciation to all the caregivers who loved and cared for Ms. Ruby. You have all been angels to us throughout a trying time. Thank you.
