Glenda Holder

Glenda H. Holder, 80, of Reynolds, GA, died Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at her home.  Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Butler on Saturday, January 22, 2022 beginning at 1:00 pm followed by funeral services at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Butler Memorial Cemetery.

Glenda was a member of Central Baptist Church in Waycross, GA for many years and sang in the adult choir.  She loved the Lord and upon moving to Taylor County, GA in 1999 she joined First Baptist Church of Butler in 2000.  She was the team leader in the Senior Adult Ministry better known as “Reach Out and Touch” for many years and was a member of the Reynolds Woman’s Club.  Glenda was a home economics teacher in Cobb County for 4 years, and an early childhood elementary teacher in Ware County for 21 years.  She loved teaching primary aged children and told them she wanted their best in their learning experiences.  When she realized she could not perform her best due to a progressive liver disease she retired on disability in 1997.  She was a 19-year liver transplant survivor and had multiple health issues in the latter years of her life.  She was a wonderful wife and great mother with a cheerful and positive outlook on life.  She was a strong planner and organizer.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wyatt William Hobbs and Minnie Lovett Hobbs, C.W. Hobbs (brother), Celeste Oliver (sister), Viola “Sister” Hunt (sister), Tency Lewis (sister) and Wayne Hobbs (brother). 

She is survived by her husband, Daniel R. Holder, Sr. and three sons: Daniel Riley Holder, Jr., Wyatt Kenneth Holder (Kristie) and Hugh Darrell Holder (Michelle).  She has four grandchildren, Britney Richardson, Michaelyn Moretz, Aaron Patrick Holder, and Cathryn Lyn Geiger and a great-grandchild Parker Richardson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Fund, Samaritan’s Purse or Georgia Baptist Children’s Home.
